What's Heading Home?

Heading Home’s mission is to make experiences of homelessness rare, short-lived and non-recurring.  Since 2011, our programs have helped transition more than 1500 people and their family members into housing right here in New Mexico.

The Albuquerque Heading Home housing initiative has permanently housed nearly 500 of the city's most vulnerable residents and saved millions in tax-payer dollars.

Vets Heading Home is on track to end homelessness for local veterans by 2016.

The Albuquerque Opportunity Center provides emergency shelter to hundreds each year and houses a 24-hour respite care program.

Keeping Families Together launched in counties throughout New Mexico earlier this year to serve families with school-aged children at risk of experiencing separation or homelessness.

With the help of collaboration and community support, Heading Home has seen lives changed and hope restored.
